As with the rest of this week, this is a pre-programmed post! If all goes according to plan, I’ll be back late Tuesday night with my most epic travel tuesday post yet. If you are very detail oriented, you might notice that Sunday is February 5 and that I owe you my month 4 update on my 30-before-30 project. Because I am working on checking off item 2 of said project, the update will be a few days late!

Happy Friday Friends! So. I’m getting a little tired of pre-programming posts. I apologize! I’m only human. So this one is going to be short. And about things I like on the internet. Let’s go.

best of {take 11}

best of {take 11}

Last week I alluded to the fact that the “best of” series is becoming less of a weekly round up of the best blog posts on the web and more of a random occurrence when I see something (or some things) that I really really like. It’s still going to focus on super blog posts, but every once in awhile (like today) the series will go off on a totally different tangent!

Today, I logged into my etsy account for the first time in awhile, and I remembered how cute most of my “favourites” are. I also realized just how perfectly pastel-y they are for Easter. So today, I present my 12 most recent etsy favourites!

DelicacyJ | LBCPaper | Walrus Studio | plastique

lovestitched | crackeddesigns | allspots | JewleryHoldersForYou

HoneyPieDesign | littlebrownpen | littlebrownpen | PianoBenchDesigns

Aren’t they all cute?

I also want to introduce you to a really neat feature from amazon that you might not know about. It’s called the “Universal Wish List“, and its not limited to items from amazon, but instead lets you tag things from all over the web! You can then share these things with your friends and family (and blog readers) too! It’s perfect for birthdays, holidays, and maybe even random presents cause people think you are cute and would look really really good in that bird necklace….

And it’s so easy to use. Sign up for a wish list from your amazon account, and then instal the extension for your browser.

Then when you browsing the web and come across something you like, click on the button on your bookmarks bar and it will automatically add it to your wishlist – with your own comments! This list is totally not necessary in your life, but it so nice to have when people as you what you want for your birthday! Score!

That’s all for today folks! Happy Easter! Happy wishing!

best of {take 10}

As I’ve mentioned a few times, work’s been crazy and we just got back from a whirlwind weekend to New York [post coming soon(ish)]!  I was quite impressed with myself for only being a day late with my ‘best of’ post this week.  Quite impressed, that is, until I went looking for last week’s post and realized it never materialized.  So, here we are, one week and one day late, with my favourite things from the internet!  I kind of like this freedom.  I might get all willy nilly on the best of posts :)  I’m crazy like that!

Coconut coconut coconut coconut… in Thailand.  What could be better?  Travel.  Eat.  All in one. So good.

Siege Fenetre (i.e., Window Seat).  Photograph and Travel.  All in one.   Also so good.

So much cute yellow!  And a California pillow!  Decorate and Travel.  All in one.  So good!

And last, but definitely not least, this was going to be last week’s travel post until I forgot.  I seriously (seriously) want to be 1/2 as cool as Christine and Drew when I grow up.  Since recently, I’ve wanted to go to India, in a seriously bad way!

best of {take 9}

best of {take 9}

This week has been one of those weeks.  One of those weeks when you can’t believe it’s Friday when it’s Friday.  One of those weeks when you wake up at 7:00am on Saturday and 6:30am on Sunday so you can get your work done.  One of those weeks when you throw out most of your groceries because you picked up fast food on the way home from the office at 9:30 or 10:00pm.  But there’s also been some great things about this week, we went to a couple of fancy schmancy dinners (Canoe on Thursday and the new Blowfish on Saturday) and a friend (who we love but we rarely get to see) was over as a houseguest for 24 hours this weekend!

I also got the chance to cook a couple of dinners, attempt to cook a dessert, and write one blog post about said dessert (the rest of the week’s content I actually wrote last weekend).  But, I didn’t have much time to read my favourite blogs.  Their titles just sort of flitted past me in my rss reader.

What this means for you is that (for the most part) my “best of” post this week is pretty measly.  I’m sure there were lots of other amazing things out in blogland this week – I just didn’t have time to find more of them!  I also didn’t have time for fancy screenshots this week, so you’ll have to do with words!

travel

For this week’s travel post I point you to Elated and Deflated by A Wayward Journey (aka familyonbikes.org).  It is a beautiful yet bittersweet post relating to the end of their (current) journey.  If you haven’t already heard of the Vogels, head on over to their blog and check them out.  If you have, head on over and check them out again.  They are amazing.  No seriously, amazing; in the “we just spent the last 3 years cycling from Alaska to Argentina” kind of amazing.

eat

On a much, much lighter note, for eat, I give you macarons, by [not so] serious eats.   Mostly because I love macarons, and I’m petrified of making them.  See previously referenced baking disaster.  But I’m totally impressed that other people brave the making of the macarons for my enjoyment.

decorate

And finally, for decorate, I present aqua & yellow on elizabeth anne designs.  This is actually a wedding inspiration board, but I’m loving it for accent colours in a home (and you’ll notice, one of the images in the inspiration board is actually a bedroom, so I’m not so out to lucnch) .   I also just generally love elizabeth anne designs, our own wedding was actually featured there about a year ago, woohoo for us!

On that note, I’m going to try to get some sleep before my big week!

best of {take 8}

best of {take 8}

Take 8?!  I’ve been at this for 8 weeks already?  It feels like just yesterday that I decided I needed an outlet for all my personal blogging.  It’s been an amazing 8 weeks so far, and I’m only feeling more and more inspired.  Have I got lots of fun posts for you coming up!

This week there was all sorts of awesome stuff on the internet, and I was about to post 15 things in this post.  I decided that might be overwhelming, so I begrudgingly chopped it down to 5 (well… sort of 7, but what the heck).  Each of these 5 (…7…) posts is really, really good.

Starting with my most favorite (I realize that “most favorite” is totally redundant, but it’s my blog, and that’s how I feel!).

Kirsten’s post about Paris captured me utterly and completely.  It’s so beautifully written and makes me so very excited for this summer.  I’m in love with Paris, and have been since I first visited at 12 years old.  Since that first trip I’ve spent a total of about 8 weeks in Paris, each day growing better than the last.  It’s been about 6.5 years since I’ve been to Paris, and truly, I can’t wait to go back.

Just yesterday, one of my favorite wedding photogs posted her images from her recent trip to Paris.  They take my breath away, so a shout out to Tara McMullen as well, check it out if you want to swoon over some Paris imagery!

Next up this week is photograph.

Moment Junkie is a relatively new site (like this!) It’s the brainchild of Ryan Brenizer and Kyle Hepp.  And it’s awesome.  Go check it out.  You won’t be disappointed!

In decorate this week, I present a brooklyn limestone in progress.

This post is actually a “steal” of another post (see the original over at 221 vision) but without a brooklyn limestone, I never would have discovered 221 vision… oh the magic of the internet.  This is the best DIY project I have ever seen.  I’m totally impressed and I can’t wait until I get a new space to make myself a sweet and stunning hallway bench!

So, I haven’t yet made this meal that I’m posting in eat, but it looks delicious. And don’t worry – I’ll make it soon!

I didn’t even know there was a sirachia cookbook until I came across this post on Matt Bites.  I can’t wait to try this meal, and probably buy the cookbook.  I LOVE rooster sauce, almost as much as the hubs loves Franks!

Finally, a bonus post this week.

Thank you Jenny.  For telling it like it is.  I really am not in the mood for -10C (14F) with a “Real Feel” of -17C (1F) on March 27.  Just sayin.

I feel a little funny doing a “best of” post this week.  I seriously considered not posting, but something inside me told me it would be a good idea.  So, here I go!  Today’s round up will be less wordy than usual, but know that if a site is featured, it is because I truly loved something about it this week.

First up.  Travel.  This post is such an honest rendition of how it feels when you realize you are really doing it.  I remember that feeling so well, that this post made me go back and read my own “last day” post from three years ago.  I can’t wait to follow along on Jack & Jill’s adventure!

Next, we’ve got Eat.  I made this soup for dinner  tonight.  Is it ever DELICIOUS!  I’ve got a full length post in the works about this soup, but for now, it gets featured in best of.  Because it’s delicious.

For Photography I bring you the Vivan Maier blog. You can read more about Vivan Maier here or here.  These are beautiful images.

Finally, in Decorate this week, I bring you Elle from Switcheroom’s featured home office of the day (from Thursday).  This home office is such a cute little space.   And I’m totally into home offices these days.

(I promise I will feature Elle’s blog again for sure one week, and next time, I’ll feature one of her own projects.  For now, you should really spend some time exploring her site, it’s incredible!)

That’s all for this week, folks!
