best of {take 9}

This week has been one of those weeks.  One of those weeks when you can’t believe it’s Friday when it’s Friday.  One of those weeks when you wake up at 7:00am on Saturday and 6:30am on Sunday so you can get your work done.  One of those weeks when you throw out most of your groceries because you picked up fast food on the way home from the office at 9:30 or 10:00pm.  But there’s also been some great things about this week, we went to a couple of fancy schmancy dinners (Canoe on Thursday and the new Blowfish on Saturday) and a friend (who we love but we rarely get to see) was over as a houseguest for 24 hours this weekend!

I also got the chance to cook a couple of dinners, attempt to cook a dessert, and write one blog post about said dessert (the rest of the week’s content I actually wrote last weekend).  But, I didn’t have much time to read my favourite blogs.  Their titles just sort of flitted past me in my rss reader.

What this means for you is that (for the most part) my “best of” post this week is pretty measly.  I’m sure there were lots of other amazing things out in blogland this week – I just didn’t have time to find more of them!  I also didn’t have time for fancy screenshots this week, so you’ll have to do with words!

travel

For this week’s travel post I point you to Elated and Deflated by A Wayward Journey (aka familyonbikes.org).  It is a beautiful yet bittersweet post relating to the end of their (current) journey.  If you haven’t already heard of the Vogels, head on over to their blog and check them out.  If you have, head on over and check them out again.  They are amazing.  No seriously, amazing; in the “we just spent the last 3 years cycling from Alaska to Argentina” kind of amazing.

eat

On a much, much lighter note, for eat, I give you macarons, by [not so] serious eats.   Mostly because I love macarons, and I’m petrified of making them.  See previously referenced baking disaster.  But I’m totally impressed that other people brave the making of the macarons for my enjoyment.

decorate

And finally, for decorate, I present aqua & yellow on elizabeth anne designs.  This is actually a wedding inspiration board, but I’m loving it for accent colours in a home (and you’ll notice, one of the images in the inspiration board is actually a bedroom, so I’m not so out to lucnch) .   I also just generally love elizabeth anne designs, our own wedding was actually featured there about a year ago, woohoo for us!

On that note, I’m going to try to get some sleep before my big week!

    1. Thanks Kyle! I actually know Heather and love her “No Macaron Left Behind” challenge! We met in Istanbul in 2008, when she was there for a week and my husband and I were 3 weeks into our RTW trip!
